So I work in a kids retail store during the summer. Being a college kid means I have to stretch my dollar and work like crazy to make the dollar that I have to stretch. Kids retail, two things I love - kids and retail. It really is the best job I've ever had, but I'm learning a lot more than I thought I would have to. Like parents. Some people SHOULD NOT be allowed to be one. Just today a couple came in with a 9 week old baby, both were under the influence of something, and completely ignored the screams of their child. To calm the little girl, the father began to swing the carrier up and down, and not just a light rocking, a full out swing UPPP and DOWNNN. Brittney and I were scared the infant would fall out! Example one of bad parenting.
The second example was when a man came in to get some clothes for his little baby. The owner of our store was leaving, and when she walked out to her car, our phone rang. She was calling to tell us that the man who was in our store had left his BABY IN THE CAR, in the Texas heat, ALONE, and the car wasn't running! Nope, some people just don't need to be parents. Things like that frustrate me to no end, but it makes me appreciate the good parents out there so much more.
Moral of the story? Make sure you are ready to be a parent before you are one.
