Summer Style - Lace Shorts

Summer time? Why, yes it is! And what's great about summer? SHORTS! Lace shorts (mint is my fave!) are in this season and I can't wait to break mine out of the closet! You can find a pair similar to these at T.J. Maxx or Forever 21. Tuck in a flowy blouse for a classy and simple look, or grab a floral chiffon button-down for a cute and sassy outfit. Add stylish accessories and make it your own!

What's On Chelsea's Playlist? - Week 3

Max Schneider, my secret celebrity crush, killin' it in the song, "Without You" by Usher and David Guetta. Please, tell me what's more perfect than this face and this voice singing this song...

Chelsea's Charms

More Michael Kors!

I cannot get enough of Michael Kors! This is an aqua and white combination that is TO DIE FOR!!! Want this look for a good price within a college girl's budget? Check out charmingcharlie.com for some cute looks almost identical to this one but for a lot less! All you need is a chain link bracelet, aqua bangle, and white watch and you're one step closer to fabulous!

My Sisterhood

What does Chelsea cherish? Memories and Sisterhood. These are some of my favorites!! These are some of my sisters in my sorority along with some of our beaus at one of our formals! This group of girls has been a major part in getting me this far in college. Their support and encouragement have helped me keep pressing on, and their accountability has kept me on the road I want to stay on, and my focus on the things that truly matter in this life. CHI RHO LOVE FOR LIFE!

Be Happy

What's Happening This Weekend?

It's been a rough few days, trying to get everything unpacked from college and working random hours at work, all while trying to maintain my social life and see my fellow college friends. I can't believe that I only have a year and a half left in college. This is crazy! I feel like I just graduated! (I mean, I kind of just did..) I have high expectations for this summer though! This weekend, we're taking a family vacation to the lake with some other families, and we're going to be cliff diving and jet-skiing  So excited, and crossing my fingers that my best friend will be able to take off work and come along. It's a rarity to have the whole family together for a weekend of fun and not have at least one person having to work. Hopefully memories and tan lines will be made this weekend. Sunny days and good company will most definitely make this a vacation to remember!

It's Definitely an Addiction...

Gold and turquoise Michael Kors! Oh please stop me from drooling!!!!! I am so completely addicted.

Time for Class

This is my next style endeavor! It looks painful, BUT, like I always say, beauty is pain! Earrings are definitely becoming more and more popular, from lip piercings to bellybuttons, it seems like everyone has to have one! Now, I'm not a big fan of numerous piercings, but that's my own personal preference. I believe simple is classy, as well as small. The smaller and simpler something is, the classier it is. Take a tote bag compared to a clutch purse. Which is classier?                    Exactly.

What's on Chelsea's Playlist? - Week 2

Chelsea's Song Pick of the Week! This is definitely one of my top ten fave songs of all time. These two have such a unique sound and I love every song they've come out with. Check out The Scene Aesthetic's hit song, "Come What May" here >>>>>>>>>

Just, No.

So I work in a kids retail store during the summer. Being a college kid means I have to stretch my dollar and work like crazy to make the dollar that I have to stretch. Kids retail, two things I love - kids and retail. It really is the best job I've ever had, but I'm learning a lot more than I thought I would have to. Like parents. Some people SHOULD NOT be allowed to be one. Just today a couple came in with a 9 week old baby, both were under the influence of something, and completely ignored the screams of their child. To calm the little girl, the father began to swing the carrier up and down, and not just a light rocking, a full out swing UPPP and DOWNNN. Brittney and I were scared the infant would fall out! Example one of bad parenting.
The second example was when a man came in to get some clothes for his little baby. The owner of our store was leaving, and when she walked out to her car, our phone rang. She was calling to tell us that the man who was in our store had left his BABY IN THE CAR, in the Texas heat, ALONE, and the car wasn't running! Nope, some people just don't need to be parents. Things like that frustrate me to no end, but it makes me appreciate the good parents out there so much more.
Moral of the story? Make sure you are ready to be a parent before you are one.

It's Show Time

Brandon, Andrew, me, and Jackson at the Roundtable

Working hard in the studio! Getting to work alongside these guys every week makes this whole sports show business so much more fun! They finally talked me into being on my own show, and I'm so glad they did. You can check out the show and my (not exactly professional-grade) addition to it here >>>>>>>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbNYZSgGoPI

What's My Addiction? - Gold Leaves

What am I addicted to lately? My obsession is with gold leaves (and feathers that happen to look a lot like leaves.. haha), from earrings, like below, to rings, to necklaces, I can't get enough of these natural beauties! You can get a pair like these from Claire's, Charlotte Russe, or Charming Charlies, all under $20.

What's In the Future File?

What's the haute trend for classy business wear? Jean trousers! Have an interview to go to? A semi-formal function to attend? Grab a pair and match it with a tucked-in loose blouse, and get ready to look polished and professional!

What Does Chelsea Support?

Who is this cutie? This is my precious little sister, Kelis! She's five years old and loves to play at the park and eat ice cream. I am a member of the Big Brother/Big Sister program, and it is one of the most amazing things I could have done as a college student! It is so easy to join, and I can guarantee you it will be one of the most fulfilling things you'll ever do. Being a part of something like this helps me to see the bigger picture, and to see past myself and my own selfish wants and cares. Knowing that Kelis needs someone to look up to and needs someone who provides consistency in her life helps me to understand why doing this is so important. There are so many kids out there, just like Kelis, who need a consistent figure in their life. This could make the difference of their future and what choices they make later on down the road. Check it out, and you won't be disappointed. >>>>> bbbs.org

Sass and Class - The Sisterhood

These are the cutest! Sorority wear  - classy gold on black.

What's My Addiction? - More Arm Candy!

This has to be my favorite watch I've seen! It's soft white leather, easy to wear and goes with practically everything in my closet! Like my addiction to watches, this one is most definitely a statement piece, which can turn an outfit from not to hot. Try a white watch, it keeps things a bit more interesting than the usual silver or gold.

What's My Addiction? - Starfish!

What's my addiction lately? Starfish! From earrings to scarves, I have been filling my closet with these cuties!

Perfectly manicured nails are ALWAYS IN with Chelsea! Pretty shades of pinks are this season's hot summer look!

What's Hot This Summer? - White!

What's the latest in fashion for this summer season? WHITE. White everything!! And white pants, of course! Though they may be difficult to keep crisp and clean (at least for an outdoorsy girl like me), these fashionable bottoms will go with everything in your closet, literally. White is the new blue, so grab a pair at your local American Eagle or Old Navy, and get ready for summer!

What Does the Roommate Recommend?

What does the roommate recommend? A healthy snack of Melba Toast and guacamole! I know, it sounds weird, but you just have to try it! I was skeptical at first, but now I am completely sold on this delicious snack. Kelsey, my roommate from freshman year, who's also one of my best friends, has the same view on food as I do: the healthier the better!

> Wholly Guacamole 100 Calorie Snack Packs
> Melba Toast with Sea Salt

What's My Addiction? - Arm Candy

So I have this addiction..... to watches. I love men's and women's watches, but since I can't wear men's watches myself, my best friend, Logan, ends up on the receiving end of my addiction, which I'm sure he doesn't mind at all. Michael Kors, Fossil, Coach, Kenneth Cole, you name it! Arm candy is something that is necessary for any stylish outfit! I love any and all kinds of watches, but my favorite is rose gold, like the Michael Kors above.

What's Not Impossible?

Check out some bloopers from my sports show, "The Rundown." You might see me somewhere in there too! "The Rundown" is a completely student-run show that was started at the beginning of 2013. It includes over 20 students in production, and has been recognized  in the state of Arkansas as being one of the top online videos produced at a university. What was my dream? To start a sports show. Think your dream isn't worth reaching for? I'd rethink that one if I were you. Anything is possible if you just set your mind to it.

Chelsea Lately - My Story

What's my story? It's a long one, actually. I started out in Sarasota, Florida, a coastal city on the Gulf, full of classy cars and expensive homes. It was home to me, until the summer following my ninth birthday. We lost everything in a flood, forcing us to move South, to Charlotte, a quaint beach town, boasting one of the lowest crime rates in America. My dad worked as the boss of a major RV business, allowing us to take those little suckers all across the country on our summer vacations. Those were some of the best days, traveling all over the place with my family, from Alaska to Niagra, the memories made on those trips will stay with me forever. Following my eighth grade year, my dad bought his own RV business out in Texas, which felt like halfway across the world to a girl who was about to start high school.
Leaving all of my friends behind, I trekked across the great terrain of Southern America, and found myself in a small community of insanely SOUTHERN individuals. Cowboy hats and ostrich-skinned boots were the latest in fashion around here, and I knew I had to cling tightly to my roots so I wouldn't find myself conforming. (I do admit that I bought a pair of boots, though, the longer I was here the more the culture began to grow on me.)
I attended a small private college prep school all through high school, loved every second of it, met some of the most influential and amazing people, and graduated in 2011 with a mindset of shooting for the stars.
Now, I call Arkansas my home, and cannot believe I will be graduating next year! (3 and a half years seems too short!!) I found my niche, becoming the sports editor of the school newspaper, the producer of my very own sports show for the university, joining Big Brother/Big Sister, and becoming a member of a sorority. I love every second of this part of my life, and yes, I am still waiting on my Prince Charming to come, but the freedom of singleness is definitely something I have grown to appreciate in college.
My friends are my biggest supporters, and my professors have taken their time to grow me as a student and as an individual. I am now planning to apply for graduate school and move back to Florida following graduation. From there, it's all God, but I know He has gotten me this far, so I have faith He will get me the rest of the way. That's my story, what's yours?

What's In Style? - Beach Waves

So, being from Florida, beachy waves are my fave! Getting the perfect seaside curls when you live over 500 miles from the shore can be a chore, but with this easy alternative, you can get beach waves fast! Using epsom salts to create wavy hair – mix a teaspoon of salts + a few drops of olive (or jojoba) oil + 1/4 cup H20 in a spritzer bottle and mist on damp hair.

What's In? - Cute Corkboard!

What's in Chelsea's dorm? Painted corkboard! Take 4 cheap corkboards from Walmart, some blue scotch painters tape, and your favorite color of paint, and make this cute board for your desk space! Get your supplies at Walmart and make this cute board for under $20!

> 4 pack cork tiles
> scotch painter's tape
> white spray paint

What's New? - Dainty Dorm Decor!

Great idea for the dorm room! I know all of my polish gets stuck in a drawer underneath my bed. And I always forget what colors I have, because they all get sucked into the dreaded corner of death (the dark recesses in the rear of my polish drawer...), to be forever alone and forever forgotten. Try this cute alternative to drawers of death and let your pretty polish double as decor!

What's In? - Home Sweet Dorm

So, I'm moving out of my apartment and into a dorm. Crazy, huh?! Who would have thought that would be so appealing? But I really can't wait!! I am rooming with one of the sweetest girls, and my suities are two of the cutest and nicest girls ever! (they're both under 5 feet tall, and my roommate and I are both 5'9! Those will be some interesting suite pics for sure!) So, needless to say, amidst all of the excitement of moving out and moving in, my roomie, Jess, and I decided on these colors for our new dorm room in Gosser. Just bright enough to keep the mood up during a late night study sesh, and enough of neutrals to balance out the brights. We are both sorority girls, from different sororities, mind you, so we had to choose 3 colors we were both comfortable with. Turns out coral, turquoise and white are totally in right now! (especially with Chelsea!!)

What's In? - Classy Coral

What's IN with Chelsea Lately? CORAL of course! This preppy shade of summer gives any outfit just the right amount of pop, and my favorite part, it makes you look more tan. Which, for  me, working inside all day, makes this color so much more worth wearing! Classy and coral - this season's best look!

These great looks >>>>> Ann Taylor skirt, Steve Madden wedges, Chanel polish

What's On Chelsea's Playlist? - Week 1

Chelsea's Song Pick of the Week! Not only is it my FAVORITE song, but it is also the title of my favorite children's book! Check out Go Radio's hit single, "Goodnight Moon" here >>>>>>>>>

What's In? - Sassy Stripes!

(classic cotton, preppy chic, crewneck, red and white stripes)

What's in style with Chelsea Lately? Preppy stripes, of course! In this cute pop of color, it stands out and makes any outfit twice as fashionable. Crisp white balances the bright red, while the high-waist skirt draws the eye to the thinnest part of the body. This summer it's all about nautical colors and styles, so break out the knotted blouses and tees, grab the red, white and navy, and head out with a confident smile and a great sense of style!

What's In Chelsea's Dorm?

What's IN with Chelsea's dorm room? Easy to make display storage mirrors that are totally within a college student's budget! Get a cheap shelf from Ikea, attach a mirror and cork board and put it on top of a lazy susan (also from Ikea). Best organization idea for a small space, especially for a dorm room! LOVE it!!

What's In? - Florals

What's IN with Chelsea Lately? Floral pants and shorts, of course! Floral prints are good for any and every season and can be worn with practically everything! Chelsea Lately - What's Your Dream?

My dream is to own a sailboat and go sailing on the Gulf. I've been sailing since I was four, but after moving from Florida to Texas several years ago, my favorite pastime was set on the back burner. I'm hoping by the time I hit 25 I will have my own seaworthy vessel, and a decent amount of time to use and abuse it. Have a dream? Never stop pursuing it. It makes living life a whole lot better.

Chelsea Lately - What's New?

(Marissa and I at our sorority's winter outing)

Welcome to my new blog, Chelsea Lately! Ever needed a site where you could find ideas for all things college and fashion? Well, look no further! This blog is for those of you who need inspiration for the college life and beyond. Now, a little background on myself - I am currently a junior in college, living in Arkansas and rushing home to Texas on the weekends for work, family and fun. I am an editor for the school paper, and also the executive producer of the university sports show. My friends and my faith have molded me into the woman I am today, and I plan to live my life to the fullest, while maintaining an honorable and classy image. My life's motto: There are three things every woman should be - sassy, classy and confident.
